Training built from first principles. Priced with full transparency.
Esbee is a UK-based HR and management consultancy that delivers in-house training programmes for organisations where getting people management right is a commercial priority — not a box-ticking exercise.
The problem with most training
You know the format. A day in a conference room. A slide deck that hasn't been updated since 2019. A trainer who has never managed a real team or dealt with a real disciplinary. Everyone nods along, collects a certificate, and nothing changes.
Your managers go back to their desks without the confidence to have a difficult conversation, handle a grievance properly, or make a sound decision under pressure. Your organisation carries the same risks it had before the training happened.
That is not training. That is box-ticking. And for organisations where the stakes are real — where a mishandled process can lead to a tribunal, a toxic team, or the loss of a good employee — it is not good enough.
How we do it differently
Start from first principles
We don't start with slides. We start with why — why employment law works the way it does, why good management practice matters commercially, why certain situations escalate and how to prevent it. When people understand the reasoning, they can apply it to situations they haven't seen before.
Build on real-world scenarios
Every session uses scenarios drawn from real organisations — the kind of situations your managers actually face. Difficult performance conversations, sickness absence patterns, restructure consultations, conduct issues. Not hypothetical case studies from a textbook.
Practise, not just listen
Knowing what to do and being able to do it are different things. Our programmes include structured practice — managers rehearse conversations, work through decision points, and build the muscle memory to handle difficult situations with confidence.
Tailored to your organisation
We train against your policies, your procedures, your culture, and your real challenges. Not a generic programme with your logo on the front. We scope every engagement around what your people actually need.

Who this is for
Our training programmes are designed for organisations where management capability directly affects business performance, compliance risk, and employee experience.
Typical clients include organisations that are:
- Growing quickly and promoting people into management roles faster than they can develop
- Dealing with recurring people issues that stem from inconsistent management practice
- Facing compliance gaps identified by an audit, an incident, or an acquisition
- Investing in their management population as part of a broader organisational development strategy
- Preparing for or responding to regulatory, legal, or structural change
Not just for HR
Our programmes are commissioned by HR directors, operations directors, managing directors, and private equity portfolio leads. If people management is a business risk for you — and it almost always is — this is relevant.
Talk to us about trainingHow it works
We meet with you to understand the challenges, the audience, the outcomes you need, and any policies or context we should build around. No off-the-shelf proposal.
We build the programme — content, scenarios, exercises, and materials — tailored to your organisation. You review and shape it before delivery.
In-house, at your premises, led by senior consultants who have real operational experience. Small groups for genuine interaction and practice.
Where needed, we provide follow-up sessions, ongoing retained access, or further development work. The goal is lasting capability, not a one-off event.
Common questions
How much does in-house management training cost?
Our specialist three-hour courses are £495 + VAT per session for up to 15 delegates. The flagship Pillars of Management programme is £695 + VAT per session across three sessions. C-Suite workshops start from £1,200 + VAT per session. All prices include materials and Northwest England travel. See our full pricing table for details.
Do you deliver training outside the Northwest?
Yes. We deliver in-house training nationally across the UK and internationally. Travel is included for the Northwest. For the rest of the UK, travel expenses are charged at cost. For international delivery, travel and accommodation are charged at cost.
Can training be tailored to our policies and procedures?
Every programme is tailored to your organisation. We scope each engagement around your policies, your procedures, and the real challenges your managers face. For the Pillars of Management, optional add-on sessions can be built entirely around your ER policies and case scenarios. We never deliver generic content.
Who delivers the training?
All Esbee training is delivered by senior consultants with real operational management and HR experience. Our trainers have managed teams, handled complex employee relations cases, and advised at board level. They are not career trainers reading from a manual. Learn more about our team.
What is the maximum group size?
Most courses run with up to 15 delegates per cohort. This keeps sessions interactive and allows for meaningful practice and discussion. For larger groups we run multiple cohorts, which also helps embed learning across the organisation over time.
Do you offer online or virtual training?
Our strong preference is in-person delivery — it produces better outcomes, especially for the practice-based elements of our programmes. We can accommodate virtual delivery where there is a genuine operational need, but we will always recommend in-person first.
